I might not agree with everything either of you say, but to be honest, this is the most profound, purely epic podcast - honestly, as epic as they ever will ever be in this age - in terms of discussing the current world, our consciousness, the future, tribalism, society, and materialism - so many things I can't keep going on. This to me is pure agreement, to agree to disagree, no matter what you believe or what world you live in, whatever god you believe in. Mind opening on many levels and I hope you reach all corners of what we as humans comprehend. Much love to you both! One day, my dream would be to have a real conversation with either of you, 3 hours or 30 minutes, there's not enough people in the world who are on this wavelength of proverbial love! My only criticism is that this could have gone on for another hour if not three! Much love to you all

Man, when they started talking about feminism. I agreed on most but not on Joe’s critiques of women. There’s differences in feminism. There’s white feminism (OG feminism). The kind that got our right to vote that ignored women of color, trans women, etc. Then it counterintuitively demonized the femininity to “defeat” the established patriarchy. Hating on women who used makeup, embraced their bodies, sexuality, and femininity is the INTERNALIZATION of sexism and patriarchy that taught women to see each other as sexual competitors for the attention of men. Now MODERN feminism CRITIQUES that past feminism. Embraces women of color, trans women, sexuality. It is A OK to express your femininity and masculinity any way you feel it. So for those that critique feminism entirely because they believe it to be contradicting to itself is a result of just the complexity of all the intersections with feminism (race, economics, ableism, etc.). Point is, feminism evolved. It’s ideas changed (just like governments and religions change) finally out of the incorporation of all feminine figures (not just the white women that didn’t even want black womens help to gain suffrage). Before bashing feminism, please be conscious about whether the critiques of feminism are still relevant or true to the way modern feminists think.

is it possible that the powers that be don't ever want to fix the poverty striken areas because it divides us, creates issues, which they use to minipulates us. To control someone, create an issue they can't fix so they will ask you to help, which you will TRY to do for a price.

So nobody should be able to live like the middle class if everyone can't? Lol Joe completely ignoring that everyone's different here but in other videos will complain that trans men are destroying women's sports.

Great, respectful conversation. Love Joe and this podcast, but in listening to this twice, I can’t help but feel like Russell is a bit more evolved than him. It’s like Joe is speaking from the outside looking in, more coming just from the head. But Russell seems to be speaking more from the inside out..from the heart, gut, and his own deeper experiences.

1:06:57 - 1:07:00... Nope, I totally disagree with that statement. If that was the case, stores wouldn't be slaughtering the number of animals they do now. Plus think, if an elk gets someone like Joe 8 months, off 1 elk, I mean, I could see the animal population rising of not steady. In addition, people would probably trade with others, meaning no more butchering animals, not at the rate today. Take just, 1 grocery chain, like Raley's (if they're still around) or Bel- Air or whatever. Just one store, I dare you to research how many animals are slaughtered daily, just to provide one days worth of meat at that particular location. Now, think of all the locations of that brand, then, all the competition, and all the stores period selling meat. Not to mention butchers, and wherever restaurants get their supply. All of that would significantly drop if EVERYONE hunted so don't be nice Joe, tell em the truth!^^

Imagine if AI actually one day realized we humans were the ultimate and that we have something they can never achieve. Maybe they could accept that we have value and so do they. Maybe we can’t be as intelligent as AI but we have souls. That’s irreplaceable. It’s valuable beyond belief. Without us AI would never even exist. Maybe we aren’t the ultimate but we have our share. This is still up in the air for me.

You've gotta study more Chicago/Austrian economics Mr. Brand. Money is labour, it's just your time. It's the labour to make the products you buy and it's the labour you put into your job to make products and provide services to people. It isn't about maximizing profit. It is, but that's not the end goal. The goal is to build a giant machine of people making the things people want to buy (with their labour, they could also use their labour to make it but maybe they'd end up with an inferior product they weren't satisfied with.) Make products as services cheaper (takes less labour to buy) and better (more, higher quality, for less labour). Money is JUST people's labour, which is talent applied plus time. You can't magic food out of no where, it has to be made/grown, and that takes time. You can't give it away for free, people worked hard to make that food and they need a house, people work hard to make the house. The gardener is better at growing food, grows more food with less time, which means the food is cheaper, the carpenter is better at building houses, which means they build bettwr houses in less time, which means cheaper houses. Then they trade their labour through money, which is just the symbol for their labour, like letters, just symbols. The price is set by their agreement, and everyone else's agreement as they can choose to buy better or cheaper from someone else, there's nothing coercive. It's peaceful and maximally respectful. And since they both made more by specializing their craft and can sell their products cheaper, everyone can afford more, everyone is better off. Free markets aren't a system. Free markets are merely the consequence of an absence of violence. Regardless of a culture, if for any reason, two people decide to peacefully trade, any such they consider of value. That. Is. Capitalism. It's not greedy, it's the epitome of morality and compassion. America and most of the West doesn't have much freedom, so not much of a free market. America, by definition, is fascistic. The consequences we see in America today are the consequences of centralized control over the means of production. The prosperity in America is latent economic momentum from the 1900s and it's fading fast. America is about to fall.

Russel makes a strong point after joes comment at 2:41:19. it’s more expensive at the end of the day because of the scarcity of resources. Beef is more resource intensive than chicken and the way that we have decided as a society to allocate those scarce resources is by economic stratification. Yes there should be the rights that everyone has access to x y or a whether it’s meat or housing or land but the inherent problem is that we have too many people to allocate our resources efficiently while simultaneously being fair. So we have a choice, do we want to have some overarching authority that decides how many people we have on earth so that those resources are allocated fairly while negative externalities are also considered? Or, do we continue with unfairness mixed with some negative externalities but not all are accounted for?

Russell seems just like my dad: fun to talk to but a nightmare to live with. His thinking is meaningless because he hasn't any self discipline to work things through. Instead he picks out convenient ideas from his wide reading. Our notion of reality must be tempered by the reality of pain. Can Russell's ideas about life survive sustained pain? If not, what's the use of them?

I love listening to Mr. Brand these days, but I have some misgiving over the "spiritual" answers you both seem to espouse. I have about 10,000 gazillion questions for you. Letting people "find their own way" is finding us on the way to extinction...what now? Mr. Brand is sounding just like the gurus of the Beatles Era...so why will this magically work better now just because 50 years have gone by? What do you do with the recent article that shows American women want to have more children and only 17% of mothers with children under three who want to work full time? Just tell them to go to hell? What would this new society and economy look like? Don't you think you should have some sort of realistic example and description before you ask the rest of us to give up our lives and the things we use to make our lives up of? What makes your religion better than mine? Do you really believe no one on the planet has a workable and peaceable sense of self? Just curious on what you think people are, before you even get into the rest of it...maybe you should talk to me.

Joe and Russell confuse the effects of slavery here with the effects of welfare. “If we wanted to be serious about evidence, we might compare where blacks stood a hundred years after the end of slavery with where they stood after 30 years of the liberal welfare state. In other words, we could compare hard evidence on “the legacy of slavery" with hard evidence with the legacy of liberals."-Thomas Sowell Candace Owens actually understands more than both of them the actual reasons for poverty in the black community today. They underestimate the depth of her understanding.

It seems like Joe never takes into account that with more of a positive lifestyle that more people will be motivated to work & spend their energy toward being productive. When people are ran into the ground from their economical & social standing sometimes all they can do is not be as productive as the person next to them. Everyone hasn’t learned or born to overcome every barrier thrown in front of them.

Joes rogan sure have some dumb ass ideas every now and then like @ 3:11:32 70 % tax over 10 million is not workin because the person would end his busines after earning that amount. Off course this would not happen since business owner would use his money so he would like to aquire more, but if this were to happen so what its just 1 person it is his own business to guit and take early retirement. Another very childish comment was 3:06:27 this "effort equality". Earlier Rogan said that there are people who are born in situation that they have no change to get better life, but then for some reason he thinks that when people who work harder and smarter earn what they got. That is just total lie. In USA Alone the 1 % colletct over 20 % of all income in the country how can you say that for example jeff bezos is working harder when compairin his salary to worker in amazon the amount of hours that worker would need to work exceeds the workers life span multiple times then the question is not even harder adn smarter ? That's also as dumb. Rich people exploit current system like they have always exploited systems. If case of bexos he have this fancy computerized way of organise things that has to do selling shit. This system is what makes most of the work through emplyess who use the system to calculate items sold on the amazon. It has nothing to do with Bezos, but only owning and because he came up with some way to make online selling very profitable it doesn't mean he is working for his earnings because other people do it for him. So Those on top has to exploit those on bottom in order to get rich and it happes through owning. I like owning too, but I don't find any reason to defend rich people how by exploiting the system and the people it should server don't care none of those things so fuck you Rogan you idiot. Most other things I agree on this podcast.
