Alex Caldwell That literally would’ve been amazing..and would’ve given bran something to do..

she missed bran... and how there are the cut scenes where bran was warging into Nymeria. They foreshadowed the "Super Pack" of direwolves back in season 7. When Bran left he was meant to bring in the pack by warging into Nymeria, picking up aria and thats how she jumped over a wall into the garden right onto the Night King. Also there was meant to be a battle between Jon and NK that would have halted access to the garden, they could have made every hit NK took from Jon kill an amount of walkers making the Plot Armor a lot weaker in the battle. It would have been epic but they said it would have cost too much for Nymeria, and said nobody would care about the 1v1 (wtf?!) despite spending 200 Million on all the other non sense this season...

You know what would have made more sense for Cersei? If , at the heat of the Battle of King's Landing, ordered herself to blow up the city. Now THAT would have been a very Cersei thing to do. "If I'm dying everyone's going down with me"

Wait so... I haven't seen the last season of this shitshow, this is literally the first time I've heard any conversation about what actually happened but I have to ask. Why didn't Arya get a section of her own on the video? Even Bronn had one. Was she just irrelevant for the whole thing other than killing ice zombie dude? Did they just forget her arc? I'm kind of confused.
Josh Cottle
Josh Cottle วันที่ผ่านมา
She's pretty irrelevant in the last season, from what I remember. There's no arc to speak of, she isn't changed by what she does. Spoilers, I guess, if you even care about that: She and Gendry bone, Gendry gets made a lord but she says that she will never marry him. She stabs the Night King out of nowhere. She wants to kill Cersei but the Hound tells her to go home, telling her that vengeance is bad whilst he goes on to get vengeance on his zombie brother. She then acts as the POV character who shows how bad Dany is for killing everyone. Series ends with her setting sail to the uncharted region west of Westeros.

Daenerys thought that the free people of KL (not slaves like in Meereen) can choose to shileld Cersei using their innocence, or not. Many shielded Cersei with their innocence. Now, of course she could have targeted the Red Keep alone and this way avoid burning thousands (like she did in the begining). But Daenerys had a second reason. Her mercy for the innocent was her weakness. And any enemy would have exploited that against her. And thus, more innocent would have suffered. Again. So she deceided to sacrifice the free, idiot, stupid, innocent of KL (and the Crown Lands who for some reason came inside KL - the main military target) to free and liberate the others from this threat/risk. They should have done a better job presenting this reasoning, but my view is that they gave us the Tyrion and Jon POVs. Be sure that in the books we will get the Dany POV. Oh, and SPOILER ! It's not Drogon that burns the iron throne. It's Daenerys.

I think Cersei did pay for blowing up the sept though, her beloved son committed suicide as a direct result of her actions. Was this catastrophically bad decision what drove her over the edge? No. But she did pay. She outlived allotter children, and in some way she was also responsible for their deaths.
TOURIST 5 วันที่ผ่านมา
@Dominic Bounds i think the books might have the other Targaryen take kings landing after Cersei does that which would make for a different sort of dynamic than we see in the show
Dominic Bounds
Dominic Bounds 5 วันที่ผ่านมา
@Jamie MacRae What consequences and what suffering? Cersei is living it up after Tommen kicks the bucket - and don't give me the "outwardly happy inwardly miserable" angle: for that, you'd need evidence.

Dominic Bounds To live is to suffer. To live with the catastrophically bad consequences of your actions is worse than death.
Dominic Bounds
Dominic Bounds 6 วันที่ผ่านมา
So? Blowing up the Sept should have gotten her *killed* . The Faith of the Seven is the biggest religion in Westeros, with literally millions of followers throughout the Seven Kingdoms: blowing up their equivalent of the Vatican, murdering a respected religious leader and three members of the beloved Tyrell family should have sparked open rebellion. Cersei wouldn't have been able to get anywhere near the throne, as she doesn't have the troops or the right to hold it. She should have been unseated within a matter of days, either by rebels or by upstarts looking to seize power. Depriving us of another side character who Cersei barely mourns does not somehow equal "terrible price," not when she follows up by gloatingly torturing people. Also, how was Cersei responsible for Myrcella's death?

As someone that was a fan of the series, and that loved and re-read the books, I think it speaks volumes how the series has practically disappeared from the cultural zeitgeist now that the wave of disappointment with the ending has settled. It's almost as if the show, which dominated pop culture for nearly a decade, never happened when it comes to lasting impact. And let's be honest, GRRM is never finishing TWOW, let alone ADOS.

Things I learned from GoT: 1. Stories should not be adapted to TV until the author has finished writing all the books. 2. I will read the novels once GRRM gets them finished, and I confirm with my friends that the ending is worth it. 3. Now I'm really worried about the adaptation of "American Gods." 4. I'm no longer worried that I have no idea how my novel is going to end since I'm letting the characters tell me what happens.

I read the line Tyrion says "they remember the last time a Targaryen came to the north" reflecting more of the citizens who didn't agree with the king who knelt. The world book states that a lot of the north hated toren for kneeling instead of fighting or regrouping and they never really forgave him for it. I'm not defending D and D, I just don't think that line was a hiccup unlike everything else. That's just me at least

I have a theory about the writers thinking that 'empowered women are stone-cold, heartless badasses'. It's all bullshit based on gender roles and trying - and failing - to subvert them. I think the idea is based on incorporating aspects of the opposite gender into oneself to become a 'whole' person. Men, as far as society goes, are supposed to be all about power and influence and logic while disregarding their own emotions and failing to express them healthily, so a well-developed male character will eventually find a certain balance between their ambitions and their emotional needs. Likewise, women are supposed to be the opposite, more concerned with their emotional identity and well-being, and that of those they're close to, over having power and influence over the world, so a well-developed female character would find a way to find balance there, retaining their feelings and holding them important but also being able to put them aside when the time came to accomplish something on a grander scale. I think there's an instinctive pull towards, or knowledge of, this idea that a man who can show feminine traits while still being manly, or a woman who doesn't lose touch of her femininity but still draws steel when need be, is appealing, even inspiring. The problem arises when the writers sucked at portraying that properly in the latter half of the show. Male characters like Ned Stark and female characters like Sansa and Denaerys showcase this balance fairly well in the early seasons, but in the second half of the series the writers seem to lose sense of that entirely, which is what leads to Tyrion losing his tactical and political savvy and Sansa seeing her own rape in a positive light because it essentially showed her the value of completely deadening her emotions. The writers didn't know how to write that balance between masculine and feminine traits, so they end up making the characters flatter than they were in the early seasons, removing their complexity and making it seem like they just got dumber as the show went on. I'm sure there's also something to be said about toxic masculinity informing the way the female leaders use their power in the latter half of the series when you consider this theory, but I'm too lazy to write more, so if y'all like the theory, you can discuss it yourselves.
Dominic Bounds
Dominic Bounds 17 วันที่ผ่านมา
There's another reason for Tyrion losing his tactical and political savvy: it's because doing so in a fashion reminiscent of the earlier seasons - or even the books - would require him to be cunning, deceitful, manipulative, and unscrupulous. And following season 2, Tyrion cannot be seen to do this, as he has become SAINT TYRION THE IMMACULATE, patron saint of well-meaning but totally useless assholes.

Danaerys should have won the war against Cersei easily, and, like every self-righteous tyrant (e.g. Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini), when the world's problems are not magically solved and the people are not unanimously grateful, she becomes increasingly punitive and cracks down harder and harder on dissent with the vain justification that she's a "liberator" and people love her and she's trying to "break the wheel", and therefore her crimes are more righteous. The issues should have cropped up when she wins the war, but the devastation causes starvation, rebellion, the north still wants to break away, etc. She imprisons and kills more and more dissenting populace with the justification that it's for the good of the "good" people (i.e. those who love her unconditionally), all while blissfully unaware that she has become the very thing she sought to destroy. Plus, because her entire identity is built around her being a "liberator", she will, on a personal level, necessarily require oppression in her realm for her to seek out and destroy. While the oppression might be obvious at first, eventually Danaerys will have to continually redefine what she sees as "oppression" in order to justify her role (and the role of her monarchy) as the "liberator", because without oppression (whether real or imagined) Danaerys has no purpose and no reason to exist anymore. The witch hunter always needs there to be another witch, or they become obsolete.

Bronn should have gotten the Twins. The Freys are all dead, and you could argue that Tyrion keeps his word about always paying double: if Cersei gave Bronn a castle, Tyrion should give him two castles opposite each other. Also, the ruling house of the Twins flying a green burning chain across a river as their banner would be pretty cool to see.

The show after the fifth season feel into the trap of "destiny" characters. Millions of fans tearing each other appart because "she's the rightfull queeeeen" "noooo HE's the rightfull Kiiiiiiing", or "nooo it's Stannis who has the better claiiiiiim" completely undermines the premise of the story : the game of thrones; meaning it does not matter who you are (provided you are a noble), power does not BELONG to you by divine right, you have to play the game to get it. Succession of power from father to son is just a way to guaranty power stays in the family. How can there be a rightfull ruler when there's invasions and rebelions? Is the targaryen's invasion of westeros rightfull? Or maybe the rightfull rulers are the first to inhabit the land? "Destiny" characters belong to a genre of story that GOT is fundamentaly not ; GOT is more about powerful families tearing each other appart rather than the return of a prophetic rightfull prince. The "prince that was promised" substory is here in my opinion to underline how unrealistic and shady prophetic characters are, and GOT, with its bases in medieval europe history, is nothing if not realistic. So the focus on the reaction of Jon learning what his name "actually is", instead of what the secret did to the families of westeros (robert's rebelion) is very telling. They tried to tell you what his "real name" aka "real status" is, instead of showing you the trauma of having his identity questionned and shifted after years of thinking himself a bastard. Which is way more interesting than "hey now, apparently I'm the rightfull king" in my opinion. Anyway, "destiny" is shite in stories, because it tries to pack up characters into neat little fixed packages, instead of focusing on their growth or actual peopleness.

"The TV set," circa 2006, is a good movie with David Duchovni, about a writer having a dramatic series planned for TV gradually transformed in some bastardized cliché comedy. GOT is almost like as if the movie was based on a true story of the future, just switching the dramatic-contemporary-turned-into-cheap-comedy thing for fantasy-politicsy-nerdy-drama-turned-into-plain-epic-hollywoodian-action. A more complete movie-turn-real phenomeon would only have at some point some hero in GOT saying something analog to "yippee-kai-yay, motherfucker," before doing something bad-ass.

The eunuch's philosophy is not just that "the best ruler is the one who doesn't want to rule," which is actually likely preferable over someone who actually likes to rule, it's sort of an anti-dictatorial propensity, but also that the one he's favoring happens to not be "mad or cruel." Also good traits to lack for a ruler in my book. But counter him perhaps there wasn't much to support madness and cruelty of Emilia Clarke up to somewhat around that time (I don't recall if that was before or after the genocide, if that's after the genocide, then he's covered), who, before that, was pretty much the opposite of whatever they turned her into, to subvert the audience's expectation of character consistency.

Gosh, jealousy on being pretty? Why not say she has "feminine intuition"? At least use a "good" stereotype, still in line with the "she's getting smarter and smarter" development, rather than "in the end, she's just a stupid jealous girl. Maybe he had the hots for her adoptive brother as her hormones would tell her he isn't really her brother, and at this point, she can't barely withhold it anymore. Slut being a cunt."

I find weird that the character development apparently supposedly has to follow some ideal of female empowerment, rather than being just an individual, not constrained by educational themes. The real problem was just character consistency.
